Innovation of tests of general motor fitness of the school population between 6 – 15 years in Banská Bystrica region

Project information

We have developed a test battery for detecting the level of general physical performance. When selecting tests, we relied on two test batteries – EUROFIT and UNIFIT. The test battery has been verified on pupils attending the 1st, 4th and 9th grade throughout the Banská Bystrica region. To verify that we tested 3234 pupils from towns and villages from all of the districts of the region. Based on the test results, we calculated 7 stages of performance level from arithmetic average and standard deviation: excellent, very good, above average, average, below average, low and very poor level. The rating scale was established for pupils in the 1st grade – at the beginning of a school attendance, in the 4th grade – at the end of the first stage of a primary school and in the 9th grade – at the end of the second stage of a primary school. The part of testing general physical performance was a detection of basic indicators of physical development: body height, body weight and BMI. The test battery is available for primary schools, because it does not require any special equipment and it is not very time consuming.
