Abstract
Easy-to-understand: The Use of Easy-to-Understand Language in Educational Settings
This study investigates the concept of easy-to-understand language and its role in foreign language acquisition. The aim is to analyze how simplified linguistic structures promote comprehension and facilitate the learning process, especially in didactic contexts. The research follows an interdisciplinary approach combining principles of applied linguistics and didactics. Using the fairy tale The Twelve Months as an example, the influence of intralingual translation on learners’ language comprehension and cognitive processing is examined. The study involved working with texts and audio recordings. It assesses learners’ text comprehension, vocabulary acquisition, and how engagement with the instructional material is fostered. Furthermore, this investigation contributes to the current debate on linguistic accessibility in education and provides practical implications for foreign language didactics, particularly in early language acquisition.
