Abstract
Remarks on the Research of Human Emotionality in the Context of Cognitive Literary Studies
The study reviews the interconnection between emotions and cognitive processes, which is extensively examined from the perspectives of different scientific disciplines. In particular, the study is concerned with the approaches of cognitive psychology and cognitive literary studies. Cognitive literary studies are an interdisciplinary structured approach theoretically and methodologically oriented mainly towards research on the emergence and function of literary texts, their elements, and structures from the aspect of cognitive processes and states, perception, and thought. The reason for choosing this research perspective is related to a scientific project in which the current state of scientific knowledge in the field of research on human emotionality, specifically emotions in the reception of an artistic text, is also being explored. Therefore, the primary focus of the study is on the internal conditions of the emergence of emotions. This internal approach attempts to understand the emergence of subjective experience regardless of whether the experience is emotional or perceptual. Thanks to the neurobiological research of the last decades, the path towards a more precise representation of emotions is beginning to open up, which may add new dimensions to the notion of experientiality, which is at the centre of the project. The study concludes with an overview of the most inspiring current scientific approaches in the given research field.
