Saint Adalbert. Hagiographic legends about saint Adalbert.

Project information

Annotation of achieved result: The researchers participating in the grant succeeded in achieving their main goal – prepare to publish a critical, Slovak translation of the oldest hagiographic legends concerning the life of St. Vojtech supplemented by a scientific commentary. The importance of fulfilling this project is that it constitutes the first Slovak edition. The translated hagiographic texts are an important source of information regarding a specific political and cultural evolution of Central-East Europe during the early and meridian middle ages. This brings forward important information regarding the evolution of civilization or the evolution of a particular geographical place, which the area of present day Slovakia was part of.
